In 2017 VisionZambia funded the renovation of a dilapidated netball court and this has added great value in helping young people become involved in local sports teams; they learn to work together, as well as benefitting from physical exercise giving them much valued focus. Josphat, the club manager, tells us about one particular local girl called Chipo Lungu who has found success through sport, benefitting from her involvement with the club and then using these foundations to pave her own successful career path.
Chipo was born on 15th November, 1999 and completed her secondary school education in 2016. She participated as a sprinter in athletics during her school days, was appointed as a sports prefect for Mt Makulu Secondary School, and featured in the Midlands Netball Association league (MINA) and school ball game tournaments. In 2018 she was recruited to train under Zambia Police Service at the school of Public Order Maintenance (SPOM) Kamfinsa, Kitwe and after completing her training was deployed as an Instructor in 2019. She now inspires and motivates the young girls in Linda to remain focused on achieving their goals and plans to donate some training materials to help young women in career support.
We are delighted to hear of this success story and how friends helping friends in turn enables them to support their own future successors. We wish Chipo the best of luck in her future career and beyond.
